Service Description

The Groundwork Handwriting System is a structured approach to teaching letter formation, built on cognitive load theory, motor learning principles and clinical reasoning. The course covers what the research supports, where it runs out, and how to teach formation consistently across a class or a caseload. Delivered live online via Zoom across two sessions: a 3.5-hour main session and a 1.5-hour follow-up four to five weeks later. The gap is deliberate, so you can apply the material and bring real questions back. Cohorts are capped at 12 participants, because the hands-on segments and the follow-up are built around your own classroom or caseload. If the cohort is full, email james@firstot.com.au for the waitlist. Participants receive the full GHS Resource Suite: the 52-letter animation deck, the movement lexicon and formation scripts, the practice worksheet families, the lined paper series with its progression flow chart, the cross-curricular worksheet templates (64 layouts, 484 Word masters per font set, with blank lined pages), and the Read Me First teacher guides, plus unlimited use of the GHS Worksheet Generator with no ongoing fees. Built in four state fonts (ACT/NSW, QLD, SA and VIC) and supplied as Word documents for customisation plus print-ready PDFs; the whole suite downloads to your own computer. Full details at firstot.com.au/groundwork. The three GHS research briefs behind the system are not part of the suite: they are free to everyone, no sign-up needed, at firstot.com.au/research. Suitable for teachers, learning support staff, occupational therapists and allied health practitioners working with school-age children. The session times above are shown in your device's local time. During daylight saving, the abbreviation may display as standard time; the times themselves are correct. Start times for every state and territory: firstot.com.au/session-times

Cancellation Policy

Transfers and refunds: More than 14 days before your cohort’s main session: Transfer to another available cohort, substitute an eligible participant, or take a full refund. 14 to 5 days before the main session: Substitution only. Your place is held in a capped cohort and may not reasonably be resold, so transfers and refunds are closed. Fewer than 5 days before the main session: The registration stands and cannot be transferred, substituted or refunded. Non-attendance is treated the same way, and any materials included with the booking are still provided. If we cancel or reschedule: a place in a comparable cohort, or a full refund, whichever you prefer. All timeframes are calendar days, and the main session is the first scheduled session of your booked cohort. If something serious happens, contact James; exceptional circumstances are considered in good faith. The full Professional Learning Terms and Conditions apply and are displayed at this checkout.
